I wrote an article a month or so ago and in it I highlighted the tendency of some men to find it completely acceptable to catcall women. Furthermore, these men found it acceptable to insult a woman if she did not act receptive to his advances.
While the problem in Brussels seems to be at an even more rampant level (as seen in the video above), it certainly highlights a common experience for women–on a global scale. One of the women in the video put it perfectly: “It is the attitude of those on the other side [men] that has to change.” There are plenty of men out there who respect women and it those men who need to reach out to other men about this issue. Women cannot fight this battle alone.
